Gazprom, Ankara agree on financing of Turkish Stream’s land part

ISTANBUL, Turkey, Jul 11 (PRIME) -- Gas giant Gazprom and Ankara have agreed on financing of the country’s part of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, CEO of Turkish pipeline company Botas Burhan Ozcan told PRIME late Monday on the sidelines of the World Petroleum Forum.

“We have agreed with them on the issue. But I cannot disclose the figures, in what percentage ratio we will be doing that,” Ozcan said. The process of granting permits on the second line continues fruitfully and there are no underlying potential problems, he also added.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that Turkey will soon issue documents certifying exit points of Turkish Stream to the land. “We have discussed the points of exit with our colleagues today and receipt of a corresponding notification by the Russian side. The exit points on the land part of Turkey, we have agreed on that, the documents will be received soon,” he said.

Ozcan said that Turkish Stream is expected to emerge to the land near Kiyikoy.

Novak said that Gazprom has already built 50 kilometers of the sea part of the pipeline.

The pipeline will consist of two branches with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters each. One of them, to be finished in 2018, is to supply gas to Turkey, another one is to transit gas to the European countries through Turkey and is to be finished in 2019.

Ozcan separately told PRIME that he is unable to verify or deny earlier media reports that Gazprom had decided to quit the domestic market of Turkey. Gas price litigation between Botas and Gazprom will be finished if an out of court settlement is agreed upon, he also said.
